James Anagnostakis has spent his life serving and standing up for others - first in uniform, then in the courtroom, and now in his community. A Desert Storm veteran who served with the U.S. Navy’s NMCB 24 Fighting Seabees - James received a number of distinguished service medals during his time in the military.
A local boy, graduating with honors from the University of West Georgia, James earned his law degree from the University of Georgia School of Law in 1998. The following year he founded the Anagnostakis Law Group, where for more than two decades he has represented individuals, families, and local businesses while building a seasoned & respected legal practice.
In 2022, James began serving as an Associate Special Assistant Attorney General for Paulding County while continuing to lead his firm. Through his work in the courts and throughout West Georgia, James has spent years fighting for families, protecting children, and standing up for the citizens of Douglas County when it matters most.
James and his wife have been married for 28 years and are proud parents to their son, Kai. Their family has deep roots in the community, and James believes Douglas County’s future depends on responsible leadership, strong communities, and protecting the quality of life that families here work hard to build.

1990
Served in the U.S. Navy with NMCB 24 Fighting Seabees during Desert Storm / Desert Shield. The Navy Seabees are the military’s construction force, trained to build airfields, roads, bases, and infrastructure in combat zones and disaster areas. Their motto - “We Build, We Fight” - reflects their role as both builders and combat-ready service members.
1994
Graduated with honors from the University of West Georgia. Choosing the University of West Georgia kept him rooted in the community he calls home and strengthened his connection to West Georgia.

Earned law degree from the University of Georgia School of Law . The University of Georgia School of Law is one of the South’s premier law programs, recognized for producing skilled attorneys committed to public service and the rule of law. Its graduates go on to serve communities across Georgia in government, business, and the courts.

Serving as Associate Special Assistant Attorney General In Georgia, an Associate Special Assistant Attorney General serving with DFCS provides legal counsel on matters involving child welfare and state law. The role includes representing the state in court, working with caseworkers and agencies, and helping ensure that laws protecting children and families are applied fairly and effectively.
